August Village Market

Held on the first Saturday of each month, Ruddington Village Market features a huge variety of stalls on The Green. Market day is a great chance to stroll around and also visit Ruddington’s many local shops and businesses.

On Saturday 5th August, almost eighty visiting traders are expected from 9am until 2pm on our village green. The full listing of these retailers, with their corresponding stall numbers, is shown below:

The monthly market is a project of the award winning Ruddington Village Community Partnership (RVCP). The market has grown in many ways: initiatives include a Young Entrepreneurs’ Programme (to mentor 16 to 30 year olds into market stall businesses) a partnership with the Trent Bridge Trust’s YouNG Project (to offer under 16s the chance to trade), an electrical repair service in tandem with Illumination Repairs CIC – and locals can ask about the village by visiting Ruddington Parish Council‘s tent. Councillors welcome your ideas or concerns for the local area, and can tell you more about what’s coming up in Ruddington.

For August, Maggie’s Nottingham is RVCP’s charity this month, whilst Chai Larden and Higgs Bo’sun are providing the ‘live’ music.

RVCP has also got one of its social media volunteers’ daughters selling fresh homemade lemonade from her drive on The Green to raise money for James Peacock Infant and Nursery School.

The White Horse on Church Street – the Village Market’s original venue – is staging its usual smaller market on the same date –  running from 9am to 2pm as well.

Market days are very busy in Ruddington, and parking spaces are rather limited in the village centre, so residents are encouraged to walk there, if they can.

Visitors from further afield are recommended to park at Rushcliffe Country Park and Mere Way:

NOTE: There’s a FREE park & ride shuttle bus: free, every 30 mins, 9am-2pm between Mere Way and Ruddington Library (just round the corner from the market) from 9am to 2pm.

Please note, due to the expected wet weather conditions, and risk of damage to grounds, there’ll be no parking on Sellors Field this month.

Disabled parking bays are available at Ruddington Co-Op (NG11 6HD), Ruddington Medical Centre (NG11 6HD), and in front of the Ruddington War Memorial (NG11 6HA). Wherever you leave your car, you’re asked to be kind to local residents and park with care.

If you’re coming to Ruddington by bus, there’s an NCT discounted Market Day travel ticket. Village Market organisers have partnered with Nottingham City Transport to offer 15% off adult and Grouprider tickets on Market Days. “All people need to do is scroll down to the NCT Partners category in the Mobile Tickets section of the NCTX Buses app, choose your ticket, enter discount code RUDDMARKET, and you’re good to go!”
